This 2010 square foot Shingle/Craftsman style home is our client's first design and construction project. Our work involved integrating Damon's sincere interest and financially driven motivation to be very involved in the master site planning phase, the selection of building materials, the selection and procuring of interior finishes and hands-on coordination with the general contractor and trade contractors.

The house is designed and oriented with the kitchen, dining area and master bedroom at the upper level looking east to Camel's Hump, Vermont's second tallest peak. The living room and a second spacious bedroom face south. The oversized Pella Architect Series windows were pulled to the corners in both the dining room and living room to shift and enhance these rooms' connection to the thoughtfully thinned maturely wooded site. The main floor ceilings are nine feet tall with second floor kneewalls at five to six feet and ceilings rising to nine feet.

The classic "L" floor plan configuration is combined with 18 ft. building width for simplicity of panelized construction and for abundant opportunities for natural lighting. With our design input, Damon Kinzie selected bamboo for the wood floor areas, flat panel fir interior doors, stock cherry flat panel kitchen cabinets and a mixture of recessed and Arroyo Craftsman light fixtures.
